Présentation

Course description:

The elective course Metrology 2 follows on from the compulsory course Metrology 1. The purpose of this course is to provide students with a largely comprehensive introduction to aquatic system monitoring by using a wide range of oceanographic field equipment to investigate the physics and geochemistry of mixed and stratified waters in an estuary.

Course structure:

- Sampling strategy for an oceanographic survey of an estuary through careful evaluation of scientific objectives and logistical considerations

- Principle of a wide range of oceanographic field equipment for water and sediment collection to investigate the physics and biogeochemistry of waters

- Collect and analyse data to characterize environmental forcing within a dynamic system in order to investigate the transport and the reactivity of contaminants

- Flux calculation
