Impact of xenobiotics on aquatic ecosystems
Présentation
Semester: 1
Course description:
This course aims at providing the students to understanding the mode of action of different pollutants on the different components of an ecosystem (individuals, populations, species, ecosystems)
Course structure:
- Main pollutants and their physicochemical characteristics (M.M.)
- Reactivity of pollutants in aquatic ecosystems (transport, persistence, degradation, transfer, accumulation) (M.M.)
- Effects of pollutants on populations (ecotoxicity) (N.M.)
- Effects of pollutants on ecosystem structure and functioning (effects on abundance, and species richness, population succession, primary productivity, secondary productivity, decomposers) (N.M.)
- Global ecosystem disturbances (N.M.)
- Bioindicators (N.M.)
- Prediction of the effects of pollutants at the infra- and supra-individual scales (N.M.)
- Experimental methods for studying the effects of pollutants: experimental systems (microscosm, mesocosms, in situ studies), sampling, determination of reactivity, ecotoxicological tests (M.M.)
