Présentation

Course description : 

This course aims at providing the students with knowledge about the fundamental principles of hydrostatics and hydrodynamics in pipes and open channels.

 Course structure:

- Introduction

- Fluid properties: density, viscosity…

- Hydrostatics: pressure and hydrostatic equation, pressure measurement, hydrostatic force on a surface, buoyancy and Archimede’s principle.

- Hydrodynamics: fluid kinematics, mass conservation (equation of continuity), conservation of energy (Bernouilli’s equation).

- Flows through pipelines: resistance to flow, determination of head and minor losses.

- Flows in open channels.
